General Questions/New to Joomla! 5.x • 0 - Call to a member function get() on null - site down J5

Site J5.0.1

1. Needed to remove an extension (I dislike clutter) was but getting a database error when I tried through Manage/Extensions.
2. Went into database and removed appropriate tables
3. Extension still showed in the Admin menu, so I tried to remove again

Now the site is down and showing 0 - Call to a member function get() on null

In admin backend, all menu options show same message - 0 - Call to a member function get() on null

Any ideas what I have stuffed up - a little knowledge is always a dangerous thing :-(
